BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge Pedal to Plant Virtual Challenge.

Are you champing at the bit for an excuse to keep active and motivated, jump on your bike and join us for the Pedal to Plant Virtual Challenge.

Set yourself the goal of completing one of these three challenges:

The Family 40km
The Iconic 160km
The Endurance 320km

Simply click on the enter now button, then from Friday May 15 complete your chosen distance over 10 days. The Challenge starts at 7.00am on Friday May 15 and finishes 5.00pm on Sunday May 24, 2020

These challenges are based around either a quarter, full or 2 laps of the iconic Bike Barn Round the Lake road event at the BDO Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge. The course has been ridden by over two hundred thousand avid cyclists over its 43 year history, and circumnavigates the pristine waters of Australasia’s largest lake, Lake Taupo. It hosts some of New Zealand’s most picturesque vistas and is one of the most stunning road cycling courses in the world.

Although most of you won’t actually get to experience these beautiful vistas in person during the Pedal to Plant Virtual Challenge, we want to make your ride count. For every Pedal to Plant Virtual Challenge entry, in conjunction with Greening Taupo, we’ll plant a tree on your behalf in an area around Taupo that’s going to be allocated specifically to the Pedal to Plant Virtual Challenge. It’s a small way we can all help to support our communities at a time where they need us more than ever, as well as making a worthy contribution to the environment.

At the end of the challenge, we’ll email you a certificate to proudly display.

And let’s have some fun with this. We’d love to hear from you during the challenge. Maybe make up your own race bib and post a photo of it on our Facebook page. Why not dress up for the ride and share it with us, or even post a pic of you doing your ride with some great scenery around you….

Set yourself the challenge of your choice, enter before midnight Thursday May 14 and get riding, either in the real world or virtually on the likes of Zwift.

How it works:

Simply keep a track of your activity via Strava, ridewithGPS, mapmyride or any other tracking APP and upload your distance and time to the Event Plus platform. At the end of each day, enter your distance and time data into your registration results section.

You can enter your distances a maximum of 10 times over the period of the challenge, so even if you ride twice in one day just add up your total distance and time for that day and enter that information into your results.

To upload your data follow these steps:

1.) Log back into your registration, this will take you to your registration summary page.

2.) Click on Upload Now.

3.) Enter the distance ridden and the time it took you. You can also upload a screen shot of ride information or a photo from your ride. Please remember if you clicked yes to using your photo we may use this in our social media.

And if you’re on Strava, please add yourself to the hundreds already on the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge Training Club as well https://www.strava.com/clubs/bdo-lake-taupo-cycle-challenge-training-club-537961

Please do ensure you adhere to government Covid-19 guidelines that apply to your country of residence at all times, and for New Zealand, these are currently:

Not out riding for more than 3 hours in duration, no driving more than 45mins to get to your ride, and stay within your region and your bubble. Do not ride with others who are not in your bubble and do not stray far from home.

Set yourself the challenge of your choice, enter before Thursday May 14 and get riding.

Cost of entry for the Pedal to Plant Virtual Challenge is $20.00 and remember a big chunk of your entry fee will be donating a tree to Greening Taupo.

Kim Manunui

Hi, I’m Kim and I work with a great team to help individuals, as well as small and not so small businesses get their message, product and services to the world using digital media and creating wonderful websites that don’t cost the earth.

I was born in Canada, and grew up around Vancouver and the mountains of British Columbia. My love of pristine environments led me to New Zealand and eventually to the mountains, lakes and rivers of the central North Island which is home. My family’s heritage is here, and it’s from here that Korio traverses the planet.

The digital world is never static and neither are we.

And I say ‘we’ because I work with an awesome group of talented people who I gather together as required to complete a project.  Whatever your business, not-for-profit or individual needs are we gather the best team to get the job done.

Collaboratively we are creative, share sustainable values and work hard for great outcomes because that’s the buzz of satisfaction that drives us.

If you have an audience and market to reach, we can make that happen. Creative design, words that work and smart behind the scenes stuff that cuts through the online noise. We’ll design your website and then build it. We’ll manage the content as well as all your hosting needs. We can handle your online advertising so you get noticed,
and we’ll manage your social media presence so you get the clicks, likes and engagement to grow your business. All within the budget you set, because none of this needs to cost the earth.  And the job doesn’t stop when your website goes live. We are your virtual business partner.
