A crew of good sorts.
Global citizens united for the common good, locally here in Taupo, NZ
We are neighbours, community leaders, and global citizens united for the common good, who share a passion for both community service and friendship since 1957.
The perception of Rotary as stuffy, traditional and elite are long gone. Today’s Rotary Club is about being relevant and flexible; about contribution and diversity and definitely about making a positive difference. How and what you can do for Rotary is as important as how and what Rotary can do for you, and the benefits of being a Rotarian are many.
Becoming a Rotarian connects you with a diverse group of people, not only in this community but around the world. Throughout the year, we host and interact with a broad spectrum of people; the common thread is a drive to be involved, give back and belong.
Lake Taupo Rotary meets on Monday evenings usually from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Rotary House. We’re a social bunch and over a meal and drink the conversation is always wide-ranging. We work to discover creative ways to meet our community’s needs. There are opportunities for personal growth, expanding your leadership and professional skills, networking and making valuable friendships.
The Lake Taupo Rotary Club raises money for many local and international causes such as the eradication of Polio, providing shelter for disaster stricken countries and transforming lives through providing medical aid. We hold free Christmas afternoon tea for the less fortunate in Taupo. We also volunteer our time or organisations such as Oxfam and the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
Join our crew of good sorts…become a member
Our club has an open door policy and we are always looking for new members with fresh thoughts and ideas and a passion for helping the community. If you thought you needed to wait until you’re retired to become a Rotarian, think again!
PS of course we still welcome new retired members too!
Our motto ~ Service Above Self ~ Rotary’s main objective is service, in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians pay it forward worldwide.
Lake Taupo Rotary is a not-for-profit organization which is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians, friends and fundraising events. We share a vision of a better world for everyone and believe that one person can make a difference.
Anyone can help advance understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of world health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty by contributing their time, skill or financial donation to Lake Taupo Rotary.
The Lake Taupo Rotary Club was chartered in 2016 at Rotary House Taupo. Lake Taupo Rotary is the result of a merger between three Rotary Clubs of Taupo in 2015; Taupo Rotary (which was first chartered in 1957), Taupo Moana and Taupo Expresso. The charter President was Ian Dykes with a membership of 42.
Our Events.
We are proud to own and run a number of iconic Taupo events. Being a volunteer is a great way to get involved in our club and the community - bring your family and friends; we’re always keen to welcome new volunteers!
Our Projects.
Lake Taupo Rotary is involved in a range of projects across our local, national and global communities. Greening Taupo, a local tree planting initiative is just one example of how we work alongside our community. Globally, we help support Rotary’s wider objectives such as to eradicate polio, provide clean water and disaster relief systems such Shelterbox.
In the Community.
You will see us out and about in the community although often our contributions are a little less obvious - we’re not great at being showy, but we are proud to play a positive, active role in Taupo, in New Zealand and around the world.
